FEATURE FUSION-BASED SIAMESE REGION PROPOSAL NETWORK FOR ULTRASOUND TRACKING

Author :  Xinglong Zhu

Affiliation :  Beijing Institute of Technology, China

Category :  Computer Science& Information Technology

Volume, Issue, Month, Year :  11, 15, September, 2021

Abstract :

Object tracking based on ultrasound image navigation can effectively reduce damage to healthy tissues in radiotherapy. In this study, we propose a deep Siamese network based on feature fusion. Whilst adopting MobileNetV2 as the backbone, an unsupervised training strategy is introduced to enrich the volume of the samples. The region proposal network module is designed to predict the location of the target, and a non-maximum suppression-based postprocessing algorithm is designed to refine the tracking results.

Keyword :  Ultrasound tracking, Siamese network, Respiratory motion estimation, One-shot learning.

BLOCKCHAIN-BASED APPROACH TO FOSTER STUDENT ENGAGEMENT ON CAMPUS

Author :  Ritu Gala

Affiliation :  Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute

Category :  Computer Science & Information Technology

Volume, Issue, Month, Year :  11, 06, May, 2021

Abstract :

On-campus activities like positions of responsibility in campus amenities and participation in research, benefit the students as well as the university, while also making students financially self-sufficient to a certain extent. However, this student participation is stymied by lack of awareness and motivation. Significant impetus to innovation and student participation can be provided by incentivization of these activities. In this paper, we propose a system to create a blockchain-based economy, to incentivize students with empirical benefits or monetary awards calculated using objective algorithms.

Keyword :  Blockchain, Cryptocurrency, Incentivization Algorithms, Student Engagement.

BLOCKCHAIN-BASED APPROACH TO FOSTER STUDENT ENGAGEMENT ON CAMPUS

The incentivization algorithms have been designed for three promising use cases: research work, positions of responsibility in universities, and crowdfunding. The demonstrated implementation of this system utilises VJTI Chain, an already established Proof of Authority blockchain in VJTI Mumbai, India. This creates a circular economy within the university which encourages students to earn more rewards by reinforcing positive feedback.

Evaluation of a Blockchain-Enabled Resource Management Mechanism for NGNs

Abstract :

A new era in ICT has begun with the evolution of Next Generation Networks (NGNs) and the development of human-centric applications. Ultra-low latency, high throughput, and high availability are a few of the main characteristics of modern networks. Network Providers (NPs) are responsible for the development and maintenance of network infrastructures ready to support the most demanding applications that should be available not only in urban areas but in every corner of the earth. The NP’s must collaborate to offer high- quality services and keep their overall cost low. The collaboration among competitive entities can in principle be regulated by a trusted 3rd party or by a distributed approach/technology which can guarantee integrity, security, and trust. This paper examines the use of blockchain technology for resource management and negotiation among NPs and presents the results of experiments conducted in a dedicated real testbed. The implementation of the resource management mechanism is described in a Smart Contract (SC) and the testbeds use the Raft and the IBFT consensus mechanisms respectively. The goal of this paper is two-fold: to assess its performance in terms of transaction throughput and latency so that we can assess the granularity at which this solution can operate (e.g. support resource re-allocation among NPs on micro-service level or not) and define implementation-specific parameters like the consensus mechanism that is the most suitable for this use case based on performance metrics.

ON-DEMAND VIDEO TAGGING, ANNOTATION, AND SEGMENTATION IN LECTURE RECORDINGS TO ENHANCE E-LEARNING EFFECTIVENESS

Abstract :

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced much of the academic world to transition into online operations and online learning. Interactions between the teachers and students are carried out via online video conferencing software where possible. All video conferencing software available today is designed for general usage and not for classroom teaching and learning. In this study, we analyzed the features and effectiveness of more than a dozen major video conferencing software that are being used to replace the physical face-to-face learning experiences. While some of the video conferencing software has pause feature but none allow annotation and segmentation of the recording. We propose tagging and annotation during the live streaming to improve direct access to any portion of the recorded video. We also propose automatic segmentation of the video based on the tagging so that the video is short, targeted, and can easily be identified.
